In all honesty, one of the best(material)gifts i have ever been given is the sketchbook my parents surprised me with on my 18th birthday. I had told my mom that I'd like a "nice sketchbook" to turn into art, & the one she found was most definitely far beyond the one i had envisioned.

It came in a soft handmade fabric sleeve, & is made out of leather.
It's a piece of art in itself.

It took me nearly a year to even put a mark inside of it. I was just waiting for the right moment.
Upon starting the book, I have decided that I'm not going to let anyone see what goes on between the pages until it is entirely full, & who knows when that will be.
But really though...I just want you to know, Momma(since I'm sure you're reading this at 5:30 A.M.) that I am making use out of it & it is a very beautiful thing. So, I thank you & Dad both.
You two know me so well.

it's beautiful! I'm sure I would have taken just as long to place ink on paper too.

That sketchbook is a true beauty!

& I'm sorry I haven't been answering the phone. When I'm walking to from class, it is nearly impossible to take my hand out of my pocket to answer the phone because it is soooo cold! BUT- I get off at six tonight so I'll call you 'round then. Hopefully we can have a normal conversation, haha! I'm sorry I suck :/

Normally I would have read this at 5:30 am....but today I went back to bed. Not at work.

I'm so glad you are drawing in it. I can't wait to see it when it is finished!!

ahhh! i do love that sketchbook. it makes me want to find a really neat one as well. the braided wrap and case make it, though. it's just wonderful. i'm excited to see what you do with it, too! :]

P.S. my word verification is "lonernat." i thought it was funny enough to mention.
